ODOT is planning improvements to help people get around U.S. 20 more safely now and in the future. The U.S. 20 Bend Facility Plan begins at the intersection of 3rd Street and Greenwood Avenue and ends at the intersection of Powell Butte Highway.
This Project will assess existing and future conditions and identify strategies to improve safety, mobility and reliability for all modes of travel.
The plan aims to:
- Improve efficiency, reliability, and connectivity for all users
- Ensure safety access for all users
- Support economic development and livability
- and ensure equity and access
- Protect the environment
- Develop cost-effective and feasible solutions
U.S. 20 is a heavily used highway in central Oregon, serving the residents of Bend, freight, and other travelers. As the region grows, so have congestion and safety concerns.
The U.S. 20 Bend Facility Plan will identify strategies to improve safety for all users, with an emphasis on improvements for people who walk, bike and use public transit.
The study area begins at the intersection of 3rd Street and Greenwood Avenue, continuing east to the intersection of Powell Butte Highway near Mile Point 4.8.
We are developing this plan in close coordination with state and local jurisdictions, including Deschutes County, the City of Bend, community organizations and highway users.
